Trăng nằm sóng soải trên cành liễu
Đợi gió đông về để lả lơi
Hoa lá ngây tình không muốn động
Lòng em hồi hộp, chị Hằng ơi.
Trong khóm vi vu rào rạt mãi
Tiếng lòng ai nói? Sao im đi?
Ô kia, bóng nguyệt trần truồng tắm
Lộ cái khuôn vàng dưới đáy khe.
Vô tình để gió hôn lên má
Bẽn lẽn làm sao lúc nửa đêm
Em sợ lang quân em biết được
Nghi ngờ tới cái tiết trinh em.

The moon lies luxuriant across the willow branch
Waiting for the north wind's return to relax
Flowers and leaves naive in love are afraid of disturbance
My heart is anxious, oh Sister Moon.
In the brush the whistling wind rustles ceaselessly
The sound of whose heart speaks? Why now silent?
Oh look, the moon's naked shadow bathes
Revealing its yellow round at the crevice's bottom.
Accidentally I let the wind kiss upon my cheek
Apprehensive in what to do this mid-night
I fear my husband may find out
Becoming suspicious of my fidelity.
1. "Gỏi gấm" literally means "send the brocade," but that clearly makes no sense here.
